Various ways to do "Two Loops from Lumberton" Lumberton2LoopsBakery - 18/27 miles. The first 18 mile loop uses Hilliards Bridge, then turns north to Smithville Bakery, and return by RR Avenue. This is what I do most often, both because of the bakery and I love both Hilliards Bridge and RR Avenue. This version has a 2nd 9-mile loop the South Jersey Regional Airport where there are bathrooms and water. Lumberton-17mileLoopChairville 17 miles. South on Eayerstown, then Chairville, NewFreedom, Hilliards to VTown (if needed potty stop at mile 10 at Southampton Muni) then up to RR avenue. No food stop. Lumberton- 13mile Loop West to the Fostertown/Ark ZigZag -- SJ Regional Airport. Lumberton 2LoopsAirport - 18/27 milesSometimes for a change I do this one which involves cycling through Medford Leas - very pretty. The water stop is at the SJ Regional Airport, better if people eat their own food - takes a long time to be served. The short 2nd loop uses RR Avenue, without going all the way to the bakery or using Hilliards Bridge LumbertonWarnerRd - 22 miles I usually do Warner Rd as a C- Ride, but this version is short enough for Class D. Stop at Smithville Bakery. Lumberton10FenimorePhillips - 10 miles, I like Fenimore and Phillips, but for a pitstop, use Stacey Haines for the SJ Regional Airport. Also, there's a shorter stretch on shoulderless Ark Rd if the Stacey Haines-Fenimore combination is used. But Phillips is so much prettier than Stacey Haines! Lumberton12CounterClockwise - 12 miles, more advanced than the 10-mile version because it includes the climb up Creek Road. Because it's counter-clockwise it's feasible to use the Bridge-Bella combination on the return. 2 ways to do "Two Loops from Vincentown" VincentownLoopsApanay Vincentown2LoopsBakery - In this version the 1st loop of about 20 miles goes to the Smithville Bakery, then the 2nd loop uses all of Hilliards Bridge (very nice) and a very nice section of Ridge Avenue - quite different from the section of Ridge which is used in the first part of the ride. Medford start at St Peter's Tabernacle Twenty ( Never on Sunday, Church Parking Lot). . Only 19 miles! Stop at Conte's or Nixon's. |
Lumberton-Columbus This ride, Mirror Lake, and Tabernacle Thirty are the Maggie's usual C-Minus rides. Vtown - Mirror Lake - 32 miles - A favorite. It's 12 miles to the dam at the bottom of the lake, then 6 miles around the lake and on to the Burger King. Then 12 miles back. Skipping the lake makes a 24 mile ride, but that's skipping the prettiest part of the ride. Medford Start at St. Peter's Tabernacle Thirty - (Never on Sunday, Church Parking Lot) One of many routes to Tabernacle.. Stop at Conte's or Nixon's. Vtown - Arney 3 Times - 26, 29, or 32 miles. This route puts you at the top of Arney's Mount at mile 8,5 where you are only 3.5 miles from Olde World Bakery. . After the first, and most difficult, climb up Arney's mount there are two optional 3-mile down-and-up trips for the 2nd and 3rd climbs. Riders who want a shorter ride can skip one or two of those and wait at the bakery. Lumberton-Oxmead-Warner - This old version uses Burrs Road. Now I use Gilbert instead of Burrs. Prettier and less noise and traffic. Bad
Weather? Vincentown ZigZag - Various lengths. Lumberton ZigZag - Various lengths Hills From Chesterfield 32 miles. There are many ways to loop from Chesterfield to Walnford Historic Park. This has become my favorite. It not long, uses Streeker Rd, and does the Crosswicks Creek Zig Zag. Even though I don't keep a C Pace, I always post this as a C ride because of the challenging hills. Jobstown - Crosswicks 30 miles This ride has pit stops at Chesterfield before and after the loop up to Crosswicks. It's not nearly as hilly and challenging as the the rides to Walnford. Nice route on roads that we don't get to see on the C-minus rides from Medford, Lumberton, and Vincentown.
